One of a kind Leica IIIc (1946)
Serial number 426252This 1946 IIIc is in museum grade condition. It has been professionally recovered in a Purple Snake skin patterned leather covering custom cut by Aki Asahi of Japan and installed by David Krauss in the USA. The shutter viewfinder and lens have been overhauled by Don Goldberg and verified by Manfred Mueller (both of the USA). Thus, four of the most famous names in the world of Leica restoration participated in its creation. The only visible defect is some slight brassing along the top of the eyepiece. This camera was built as a memorial to the greatest Leica photographer, the late Henri Cartier-Bresson (may he rest in peace). All of us that participated in this project have the greatest respect for his work and dedicated our best efforts to honor it and his immense talent as an artist. At our normal rates the work put into this camera would cost almost $2,000. We hope that it will wind up in a major collection but wish that it should also live on as a productive camera and make great images that will expand the legend of Leica. After all, that is why we expend all this sweat, worry and stress.
